GP Paramedic / Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Job summary

We are seeking a full-time motivated GP Paramedic or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our friendly, forward-thinking family practice in the heart of Budleigh Salterton. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of conditions independently
  • Deliver home visits, face-to-face and telephone appointments
  • Work closely with our duty team

Main duties of the job

To act as an autonomous practitioner who is able to work independently and with other members of the clinical team. The post holder will be an experienced, caring person who can demonstrate highly developed clinical skills and be able to demonstrate critical thinking whilst working within their professional boundaries.

You will work with our GPs and other primary care professionals in order to provide effective home visits, as well as managing patients in your own clinic, liaising and working closely with the duty team.

You will be able to demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and deliver expert care, including history taking, assessment, diagnostic skills, treatment and evaluation. You will provide an alternative and complementary source of primary health care alongside services provided by General Practitioners.

You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures. In order to work at this level, relevant professional requirements for advanced practice must be met.

You will primarily be working at Budleigh Salterton, however as this is an ARRs role, you could be asked to work at another practice in the local area on a very temporary basis.

Clinical Responsibilities Home Visits

  • Attend scheduled and urgent home visits for housebound or vulnerable patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments in the patient's home environment.
  • Manage acute illness presentations and chronic disease exacerbations in the community.
  • Identify safeguarding or social care concerns and liaise with appropriate services.
  • Document visit outcomes clearly in the medical record.
  • Escalate concerns to duty team or patient's own GP when necessary.

  • Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultations for acute and chronic conditions, and minor illness
  • Take detailed histories and perform clinical assessments independently.
