Job summary
We are currently seeking a practice nurse to join our team for 2-3 sessions per week, ideally one of the sessions to be on a Wednesday. Our practice, located across two sites: Petts Wood and Bickley, serving a patient list of approximately 8,500 patients.
As an established GP practice, our clinical team comprises three GP partners and one salaried GP, supported by a practice nurse, HCA, and a range of ARRS roles, including paramedics, a pharmacist, mental health practitioners, a podiatrist, social prescribers, and care coordinators. We are part of the Orpington Primary Care Network and benefit from a strong administrative and clerical support team.

Main duties of the job
Core Responsibilities
- Clinical Care
- Conducting health assessments, physical examinations, and screenings.
- Managing chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, COPD, and hypertension.
- Administering vaccinations and immunisations (e.g. childhood imms, flu).
- Performing wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures or clips.
- Conducting cervical screening (smear tests).
- Providing contraceptive and sexual health advice.
- Health Promotion and Education
- Supporting lifestyle changes related to smoking cessation, diet, exercise, and weight management.
- Educating patients on self-care and management of long-term conditions.
- Running health promotion clinics (e.g. blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes checks).
- Coordination and Teamwork
- Working collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants (HCAs), practice managers, and ARR team
- Referring patients to other healthcare services or specialists when appropriate.
- Administrative and Professional Duties
Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
- Following infection prevention and control protocols.
- Keeping up to date through continued professional development (CPD) and training.
