We are recruiting an established Health Care Assistant with a keen interest in wound care and dressings to join our friendly team at Oakwood and Bull Farm Surgery.

Main duties of the job
Under the
supervision of a qualified nurse, to provide clerical and nursing assistant
support for the whole Nursing Team in the treatment, preventative care, health
screening and education of patients within the practice and community setting.
Working pattern to be agreed. Will require additional enhanced access working hours on a Friday evening until 8pm and Saturday morning on a rota basis.

1 Pharmacist Prescriber
1 Practice Manager

10 Other administrative staff
We also work collaboratively with a team of pharmacists, FCP's and paramedics to provide a multi-disciplinary service to our 16,000 patients.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical care:
- Work
alongside the clinician(s) in the provision of patient care
- Undertake
and record the following tasks:
- Undertake routine dressings in accordance with practice guidelines
- Measurement
of height and weight, helping patients undress
- Urinalysis
- Measure of
blood pressure, temperature and pulse
- Peak flow
measurements
- Spirometry
- Recording
of ECGs
- Venepuncture
- DMARD
bloods and annual Rheumatoid Arthritis reviews using the Frax tool and Qrisk
- Testing of
clinical specimens and recording results
- Blood sugar
measurements
- Suture and
clip removal in accordance with practice guidelines
- Recognise
changes in the patients observations that must be reported and acted upon.
- Enable
patients to access appropriate professionals in the practice team.
- Act as a
chaperone.
- Appreciate
the principles of Healthy Living.
- Complete
Cardiovascular, NHS Health and New patient checks,
- Provide
relevant health promotion literature for patients.
- Preparing
and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient

chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Monitoring adequate Stocks of vaccine and ensure good
stock rotation.
