Main duties of the job

  • Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages, including paediatrics.
  • Ensure the correct identification of patients and labelling of specimens to maintain accuracy.
  • Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent infection.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and ensure proper handling and transportation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care and support.
  • Educate patients on the blood collection process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations while working in a hospital or laboratory environment.
  • Keep accurate records of procedures performed and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in phlebotomy and related medical fields

  • Certification in phlebotomy or relevant training is desirable but not mandatory for applicants willing to undergo training
