Job summary
The Lakes Medical Practice, Penrith is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their team.
**Consideration will be given to those seeking a HCA training role, for the right applicant with relevant experience**
This is a full time role - Days of work are usually Monday/Friday with occasional Saturdays.
You will be working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Main duties of the job
Undertake
record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate
training.
- Urinalysis and
preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.
- Measuring and
recording following physiological measurements in routine presentations:
blood
pressure
pulse
rate and rhythm
temperature
height
and weight - body mass index
visual
acuity.
Prepare
and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care
interventions.
Support
and monitor patients during nebulisation therapy
Long
Term Condition Reviews and Foot Checks
Administering
of B12, Flu and Pneumococcal Vaccinations
Contact
patients on behalf of and as advised by the GP/Clinical team, where appropriate to advise on test
results/recall plans following consultation or test results
Assist
in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted.
Give
accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own
competence.

- Experience of working within a Healthcare setting

Qualifications

- Computer Literate with knowledge of windows
- Willingness to undertake/Care Certificate NVQ or an equivalent
- qualification

- Qualified in Phlebotomy
- Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject
