Practice Nurse to join our supportive and forward-thinking training practice for 2-3 days per week.

Main duties of the job
To provide high quality nursing
care to meet the needs of the practice population; which includes treatment,
screening, preventative care, patient education, clinical quality systems
maintenance; and the supervision of any less qualified clinical colleagues,
while working in partnership with other clinical, management and administrative
colleagues to meet stated practice developmental goals.

- The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the nursing team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Partners, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs
- Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes on the clinical computer system as appropriate.
- Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice.
- Cytology
- Wound care / ulcer care /Doppler
- Removal of Sutures
- Health checks - Obtaining appropriate information using a lifestyle questioning approach and identifying appropriate health promotion issues. Working with patients to develop a management plan where health problems or potential health problems are identified
- Urinalysis
- Venepuncture
- Undertake the collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment so used. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
- Travel vaccinations
- ECGs
- Ear syringing
- Routine immunisations ,Childhood immunisations ,Travel immunisations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Contraception.
- Vaccine management, maintenance of cold chain, PGDs
- Infection Control and Emergency trolley management
To provide support to GPs in the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, COPD, Asthma, Hypertension etc. by providing specifically defined clinical sessions, working closely with the GPs to manage patients overall care.
To support the annual flu campaign and other mass population vaccination programmes as needed in line with national guidance.
- Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
