Join Our Friendly Team at Northway Medical Centre a thriving and well respected GP Surgery.

We are seeking to recruit a Reception / Administrator to cover for maternity leave until June 30th2026, and join our friendly, dynamic team! With a culture of delivering high quality care, you will act as the first point of contact for patients and visitors using the practice.

Main duties of the job

To answer the telephone promptly and deal with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, being aware of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times.

To cover the front reception desk to deal with patient's face to face.

Booking, cancelling, amending patient's appointments using EMIS.

To maintain a good rapport/relationship between internal and external staff of the Practice at all times.

To have an overview of the demands and workflow of the Practice during the working day.

Ensure the waiting area, reception front desk is kept tidy and keep forms and patient information stocked up where possible.

Effectively signpost patients to services appropriate to their needs.

Process and request the repeat prescriptions through EMIS.

Liaise with Clinicians for patient queries.

Work in a team of receptionists to cover any of the duties expected of the team

We are housed within a purpose-built Health Centre in Sedgley on the Northway estate. Our Practice has been rated as 'Good' by CQC and we take pride in delivering quality care to our valued patients. Essential

  • Previous receptionist/administration experience in a similar setting and ideally general practice.
  • The ability to exercise judgement when dealing with patient enquiries/problems. Care navigation experience/training
  • Knowledge of Doman or other clinical documentation processes
  • The ability to manage own workload and act independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitivity and empathy with people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.

Desirable

  • Excellent computer skills, use of Accurx

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy to at least Level 2
  • Excellent computer skills and Knowledge of EMIS web clinical system or another similar clinical system.
  • Care navigation experience/training

Desirable

  • Level 3 Qualification in a customer service orientated role
  • Medical Terminology qualification
