ARE SEEKING AN ENTHUSIASTIC, ORGANISED AND MOTIVATED PRESCRIPTION CLERK TO JOIN OUR FRIENDLY RECEPTION TEAM.
Main duties of the job
The
Prescription Clerk provides support to our Clinicians in the receipt and
preparation of repeat prescriptions for our patients. You will be the main point of contact for
enquiries about prescriptions from patients, community pharmacies, and hospitals. A good telephone manner and excellent communication skills are essential.
About us
Drayton Medical Practice has been caring for the people of
Market Drayton and the surrounding area since 1968.
We have an average list size of over 17,900 patients and offer a
wide range of facilities and skills while maintaining the traditional values of
family medicine.
In 2005 we moved to purpose built premises that offer scope for
future expansion of both services and the practice team.
In addition to being a training practice for GP trainees, we
also provide placements for student Doctors, Physician Associates and Nurses.
Trainees are well supported by all members of the practice team.
Other community services located within the premises and with
whom we have good links include Physiotherapy, Dental, District Nurses,
Midwives and Health Visitors.
We are a partner practice of Our Health Partnership, a GP
partnership of 34 practices with 43 surgeries. 176 GP partners and circa 80
salaried GPs in Our Health Partnership serving around 300,000 patients in
Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton, Solihull and Shropshire.
Our Health Partnership was set up by local GPs who are
passionate about providing high quality primary care and using their time and
skills effectively to benefit patients.
We are a member practice of North Shropshire Primary Care
Network (PCN), a network of GP practices covering Oswestry, Ellesmere,
Whitchurch, Wem, Prees, Hodnet and Market Drayton.

Main duties of the role
To process, all repeat items of medication sent in by
patients using the various protocols in place. This includes voicemail
requests, Email requests, Online requests, Paper requests.
To liaise with patients, pharmacies, nursing/residential
homes, hospitals and other outside agencies regarding queries and requests.
To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with Practice
protocols that are in place, and when queries are raised that they are dealt
with in the best way and given to the appropriate person.
To ensure that any queries on medication are highlighted to
the Pharmacy technician or the relevant GP.
Identify patients requiring a medication review and
forwarded on either to the GP, Pharmacy technician or Administration
department.
To be able to cover for holidays and in times of sickness
and may be asked to help during busier periods.
