The Village Surgery Timperley is looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to cover Maturnity Leave from May 25 - Feb 26

Qualifications

RGN qualification.

NMC registration up to date.

Main duties of the job

The main areas of this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Chronic Disease Management.
  • Family Planning
  • Childhood and Routine Immunisations
  • Travel Health Advice and Immunisations
  • Cytology
  • Infection Control lead
  • Immunisation lead
  • Extended role includes:
  • Prostap Injections
  • Pathology requests for urine, blood, and swabs

General duties including attendance at clinical meetings, keeping up to date with relevant training, fridge checks, maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness of nurse and treatment rooms, stock checks, and to maintain accurate clinical records at all times.

About us

We are looking to recruit a part-time Practice Nurse at The Village Surgery in Timperley, to cover Maternity leave. we are considering all levels of experience. The position is for 32 hours per week, this can be worked over 4 days.

About Us

The Village Surgery is a traditional practice, located in Timperley Health Centre, and is walking distance from Timperley Village, it has a list size of 7600 patients. We are a training practice where career development is encouraged. The clinical team consists of 3 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GP, 2 Practice Nurse, 1 Healthcare Assistant, 1 ACP 1 Pharmacist, and 1 Physio. Strong team working characterises the practice, with close working and interaction between all members of the practice team. We are a high QOF achieving, with a CQC rating of good, and we have a high level of patient satisfaction evidenced by the latest 2024 GP Patient Survey.

Qualifications: Registered Nurse and currently registered with the NMC

Minimum one year experience in Primary Care

Job summary:

To provide high quality patient care and treatment. Participate in settings standards for care and auditing clinical outcomes. Promoting health promotion programmes for patient, carers and facilitate screening clinics.

Provide nursing care in a variety of settings by holistic assessment, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care as appropriate.

Job responsibilities:

Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice

Organise and co-ordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice, to include the delegation of duties to other practice nursing/ HCA staff as appropriate

Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently, meeting agreed protocols

Provide general and specific health screenings to practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary

Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary

Responsibility (Lead) Areas

Whilst we do not have a lead Nurse at the Practice each Practice Nurse is assigned Areas that they are responsible for. For the areas assigned it will be your responsibility to undertake audits, keep updated via meetings/training courses, inform relevant staff of updates and record in the shared drive in appropriate folder, help with making the protocol and policies for the areas your are responsible for.

Chronic Disease Management - Diabetes, Respiratory, Hypertension management

    • Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
    • Hypertension Management
    • Diabetic review and management /education

Travel vaccinations NHS covered only

Routine immunisation Childs Immunisation.

  • Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Supplies and equipment treatment room and other areas

Ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care

Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures

Undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc. and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment so used. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.

Administrative and professional responsibilities

Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team

Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes on the clinical computer system as appropriate

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care.

Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports

Attend and participate in practice meetings as required

Assist in the formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy and develop appropriate protocols

Maintain a notice board in the waiting area designated for patient health care education
