Job summary
We are a long-established, family friendly, flexible, supportive, and highly regarded GMS practice. Overlooking Roath recreational ground and close to many parks, the practice is close to Wellfield and Albany Road, with a wide variety of shops and eateries. With easy access to the M4 and just a short journey to the city centre and the recently developed Cardiff Bay area the practice is situated in the suburban area of Penylan, Cardiff.
We have an experienced and capable nursing team, and we have daily clinical meetings for clinical staff to communicate and support the team.
We have 9,000+ patients and we are currently operating EMIS, and will be moving to EPS in June 2026.
We are seeking a motivated and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our friendly GP surgery team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a primary care setting, supporting clinicians and improving patient outcomes through safe and effective medication management.
Main duties of the job
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Practice Pharmacist in delivering safe and effective medicines optimisation
- Conduct medication reviews and assist with management of long-term conditions
- Process repeat prescriptions and handle medication-related queries
- Contribute to QAIF/QOF targets through audits, patient reviews, and data searches
- Support and assist in acute clinics, managing minor illness presentations within scope
- Promote safe, cost-effective prescribing in line with guidelines
- Provide patient education on medicines use and adherence
- Maintain accurate clinical records and support administrative prescribing tasks
- Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary GP practice team
About us
The practice has two Partners and four salaried GPs. The nursing team consists of one senior practice nurse who specialises in Respiratory, a further practice nurse, who specialises in Diabetes and two health care support workers. The practice also has a pharmacist as well as other health board (phlebotomist/midwife/health visitor) & collaborative staff (MDT).
We offer a wide range of clinical services including minor surgery, coils and implants, care homes work, anticoagulation and insulin initiation.
We are a high achieving practice within QAIF and we are an approved Training practice.
The practice currently undertakes Medical Student training and Independent Prescriber training.
Education is important to the practice and we support individuals to explore area's of interest.
