Job summary

Station Lane Medical Centre is a busy, friendly NHS GP surgery based in the North Wakefield area, with a registered patient list size of 8200. Due to a re -organisational structure, we are excited at the opportunity to recruit an organised, reliable, compassionate receptionist. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a professional and welcoming service both in person and over the telephone. We pride ourselves on having a patient-focused team who are approachable, friendly and committed to delivering high-quality care. We offer a wide range of services to support our patients needs, working collaboratively across our multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, timely and compassionate care. As a member ofNorth Wakefield PCN, we also work closely with partner practices and community services to improve access and provide joined-up care for our local population.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include

Answering and directing patient enquiries via telephone, online requests and at the front desk

Booking, amending and cancelling appointments using the clinical system

Supporting care navigation by signposting patients to the most appropriate service

Processing repeats prescription requests and handling routine administrative tasks

Always maintaining patient confidentiality and following practice policies and procedures

Working closely with GPs, nurses and the wider practice team to support safe, efficient patient care

Opening and closures of buildings

  • Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

  • Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team
