Job summary

MWH is a GP practice that has two branches, one in Southall and the other in Hounslow which serves over 13,000 patients. It is a high pressured but rewarding environment - with an excellent team that thrives on doing the best for patients. We use the clinical System - SystmOne therefore experience on this would be extremely beneficial however not essential as full training can be provided.

We will offering 37.5 hours per week and this would be discussed at the interview stage - You will need to be flexible. Our practice is open from 8:00 - 19:00 Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

Your day can consist of:

Telephone calls - which need to be answered quickly and efficiently

Dealing with prescriptions

Registering new patients

Marking/cancelling/moving appointments

Organising transport for patients

Opening and closing the practice

Liaising with secondary and community services.

Assisting with meeting targets for the practice.

MWH has a variety of clinical and administrative staff that will be there to help you along the way of developing your career. We are a two partner practice but are supported with both salaried and locum doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and GPA's alongside our admin team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Ensure efficiency of our appointments system

2. Explain our systems to patients for example registering new patients

3. Ensure that patients are listened to and empathised with, ensure that their queries are dealt with the utmost care.

4. Ensure patients get their medication on time whenever possible.

5. Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.

6. Knowing where to direct patients - and what services are available.

7. Book appointments ensuring sufficient information is recorded in the notes.

8. Monitor effectiveness of the system and report any problems.

9. To receive and make calls as required, divert calls and take messages as appropriate.

10. Each receptionist will be responsible for undertaking specific additional delegated tasks as mutually agreed, or as requested by the Practice Manager or GPs.

11. To be responsible for own health and safety and to contribute to the safe working of the surgery.

  • Essential to have passed GCSE's (or equivalent) particularly in English and Maths

Desirable

  • Any customer service qualifications or courses as this would be extremely benefical.
