Job summary

We have an exiting new opportunity for a qualified, experienced dispenser who would like to join our dedicated team working in a state-of-the-art dispensary with robotic technology.

We have a part time vacancy although a full time role will be considered for the right candidate.

We invest in our teams ongoing development and progression.

NHS Pension Scheme in place.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Dispensing acute and repeat medication

Dispensing owing items

Ordering and receipt of medication

Processing repeat prescriptions

Resolving patient queries, online, over the telephone and at the customer service desk

Job description

Job responsibilities

Assembling and Dispensing Prescriptions

Assembling and labelling of acute and repeat prescriptions in accordance with relevant SOP for Deddington Health Centre registered patients only within the specified time frame

Assembling and labelling externally supplied dental, private and hospital prescriptions for Deddington Health Centre registered patients only

Assembling, labelling, and calculating the prices of private prescriptions

Assembling, labelling, and recording controlled drug dispensing

Destruction of controlled drugs in accordance with relevant SOP

Liaising with GPs and other medical staff regarding individuals medication.

Ensuring the prescribing of items not on the Deddington Health Centre formulary and OCCG formulary are investigated and brought to the attention of the prescriber

Receipt of Goods

Ordering items from our suppliers (drugs, sundries, and dressings etc.)

Checking the dispensing queue and ordering items from our suppliers as required

Receiving, checking, and storing items from our suppliers

Alert Manager or Team Leader of all unobtainable out of stock items

Load stock into the robot

Ensure stock rotation on shelves and in fridges

Booking stock onto the clinical system (EMIS)

Prescription Clerk

Issue repeat prescription received online or paper in accordance with relevant SOP

Forward requests to a Pharmacy Technician or GP when appropriate

Issue EPS prescriptions non dispensing patients in care homes or dossette box patients

Dossettes

Issue dossette prescriptions on EMIS (including EPS prescriptions)

Prepare and dispense dossettes

Customer Services

Hand out completed prescriptions to customers, offer appropriate medication counselling as necessary

Responding to customer enquiries at the customer service desk and on the telephone

Processing payments by card and recording accurately on the till sheet

House Keeping

Ensure fridge monitoring is carried out in line with the practice protocol

Ensuring workstation is tidy and left clear of clutter at the end of each shift

Ensure confidential information is disposed of correctly

Monthly expiry date and control drug checks

Any other housekeeping tasks as identified by the Manager or Team Leader

General

Be responsible for maintaining Health and Safety standards within the business, in line with the Health and Safety policy

To ensure ongoing compliance with CQC essential standards

To ensure compliance with all GDPR and data security policies

Adhere to all business protocols and SOPs

To comply with the Practice HR policies

Ensure effective and professional communications at all times

Ensure a high standard of personal presentation at all times

To take an active part in the performance review system

Complete relevant (mandatory) training and ensure agreed deadlines are met

Attend internal and external meetings as required

To support sustainability practices and recognise the shared responsibility of carrying out duties in a resource efficient way
