Job summary
Hartington Surgery is recruiting for a Practice Manager, due to retirement.
We are a single-handed Dispensing Practice, who benefit from a stable and friendly workforce of Practice Administrative Staff, Dispensary Staff and Clinicians. Dr Ash Dawson is lead GP, supported clinically by two part time GPs, two ANPs, Practice Midwife, Practice Nurse and Trainee Nursing Associate. We have in house Care-Coordinator and Community Matron. We are a rural practice in the village of Hartington, at the heart of a farming community.
High QoF achievement (100% in 23/24) is supported administratively by our GPA. Finance admin is supported by our Dispensary Manager.
For two consecutive years we have received commendation from the Regional Director of Primary Care on the basis of high performance in the GP National Patient Feedback Survey (98% overall score). We have been rated Outstanding by CQC on our last two inspections.
We are part of the High Peak PCN and enjoy close working relationships with our partner practices through which ARRS roles provide support in a number of areas.
The role is currently undertaken over 25 hours per week, this can be flexible. We are preferably looking to recruit someone with current Practice Management experience but would welcome applications from individuals with experience relevant to the role. Salary will be dependent upon experience.
Employment will follow receipt of Enhanced DBS check, Medical and two supportive Professional References.
Main duties of the job
Business and strategic planning (within the principles of offering the best healthcare for patients, optimising value and efficiency in conjunction with GP Principal).
Financial Oversight (banking and governance).
Personnel Management (recruitment, compliance with CQC, rota oversight, training governance).
Health and Safety (ensure compliance with relevant guidance).
Information Management (in conjunction with Principal GP ensure good information management practices observed).
Stakeholder Communications (ensure effective communication with Patients, PCN and ICB colleagues, and relevant Third Parties).
Premises (oversight of good functioning and maintenance of the Surgery building).

Hartington Surgery is a small, but busy, rural General Practice which is in the heart of the Peak District National Park close to the Derbyshire, Staffordshire border.
The Practice is fully dispensing and holds a General Medical Services contract to provide a range of medical care to approximately 3400 patients. The varied population is employed in farming, quarrying, leisure, and tourism as well as being central for commuting to towns and cities in each direction.
There is a small enthusiastic, experienced team comprising of GP Principal, Sessional GP's, Practice Manager, Nurses, Receptionists and Dispensers. The strong team work closely with each other and have built good working relationships.
The Practice has been rated as Outstanding by CQC and there is a commitment to deliver safe, excellent personal patient care and health promotion, offering respect and dignity in a friendly atmosphere whilst promoting equality and diversity in an inclusive setting.
The Practice is innovative and forward thinking and proactively embraces change and new technology.
Premises are all on one level and are modern and spacious with the additional benefit of a large car park.
