PRACTICE NURSE LOCUM/SALARIED FLEXIBLE HOURS

We are looking to recruit a skilled practice nurse to join our dynamic and caring team. The ideal candidate should be confident in the duties performed by nurses in general practice including Cytology, Immunisation and Vaccinations, Chronic Disease Management etc.

You will be keen to learn and develop with the team, be flexible and enthusiastic and able to contribute ideas to improving patient care.

As a Training practice, we want an individual that wishes to develop into a more rounded health care professional in keeping with the forever changing face of General Practice.

Main duties of the job

To manage patients with chronic disease, running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems

Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation and vaccination schedule

Provide travel health advice and administer appropriate vaccinations

Treat patients with minor injuries

Provide directly and assist GPs with contraceptive services

Break bad news to patients/parents/carers and provide appropriate ongoing support to meet identified needs

Act as chaperone when required

Undertake health promotion to help educate patients

Select, carry out and interpret results of specific tests

To act as Infection Control Lead at the practice

To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care

Responsible for ordering, checking vaccinations levels and expiry dates of stock. Ensure emergency trolley and home visit bag are checked and all equipment and stock is up-to-date.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

To manage patients with chronic disease, running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems

Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation and vaccination schedule

Provide travel health advice and administer appropriate vaccinations

To maintain own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to Code of Professional Conduct

To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all PHCT staff, patients, carers and co-workers from other agencies. Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, COSHH, etc) are implemented and adhered to

To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice

To maintain own continuous professional development and ensure PDP kept up-to-date in line with the requirements of the Practice

Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions

Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time
