A
fantastic opportunity has arisen for a salaried GP to join our friendly,
enthusiastic and forward looking practice at Burngreave Surgery due to
expansion.
List size around 7800 patients. We serve an inner city, ethnically diverse population with many patients born outside
the UK including a sizeable proportion of refugees. Our patients are
resourceful, but the health needs are high.
We are a welcoming
team and try and look after each other with good working relationships across
administrative and clinical staff. We know that everyone on the team has a
vital part to play. Regular refreshments provided during clinic. We have a
sociable staff room with a supply of fresh fruit and there is chat and company
at lunch on most days. Being very
central, the main site of the practice is easy to reach on bike or on foot.
We
hold a sponsor licence for Tier 2 applicants
We
are applying to be part of the
Trailblazer Fellowship scheme
2024/ 25 which allows for a funded day of study and development per week
if you are first 5 years post CCT
Main duties of the job
Clinic list consists of a mix of telephone and face to face appointments.
Appointment lengths are 10minutes for telephone and 15minutes for face to face.
Pro rata on call.
Most clinical sessions are at the main branch but you may be required on occasion to do a session at our branch site at Herries Road.
Practice and clinical meetings twice a month.
Active member of our Primary Care Network, Foundry. Foundry is a larger than average network and is well established, with good links with local voluntary sector and hospitals.

dedicated clinical team currently consists of 4 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, an
Advanced Nurse Practitioner and another in training, 2 Practice nurses, 2
Health Care Assistants, 2 Pharmacists, a social prescriber and a visiting
Physio.
We
have recently started hosting an F2 doctor training post and are training one
of our practice nurses to extend her role into being an ANP. We also host
student nurses on placement and medical students with an interest in working in
a Deep End area or in the Greener Practice initiative. Our training ambitions
are currently limited by space, but we are hoping to move into new, purpose
build, premises in the next 18mths, which will allow us room to increase our
capacity.

JOB PURPOSE
A key member of the clinical teams, the GP will manage a case load, dealing with a wide range of presenting health care needs in a GP setting. The post holder will work with clinical colleagues to ensure the highest standard of care is provided for all registered and temporary patients. The post holder will also contribute to planning and decision making as a part of the wider practice team.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Responsibilities
- In general the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including;
- Making professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred internally within the practice
- Receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make assessments of their health care needs
- Consult with patients in the surgery, at home visits and via telephone as agreed internally between the practice GPs
- Undertakes triage calls, visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion as required.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develops care plans for health
- Provide counselling and health education as necessary
- Admit or discharge patients to and from caseload and refer them to other care providers internally and externally as appropriate and in line with practice protocols.
- Comply with all relevant clinical Governance and Practice policies and protocols.
- Assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.
- Complete clinically related administrative and non clinical duties required for the delivery of the service.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning, and audit and effectiveness to ensure evidence based best practice.
- Provide active input to the wider Primary healthcare team in the process of health needs research/ base line data collection/clinical audit.
- Compile and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing in accordance with practice/Sheffield CCG prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Network with other agencies (both statutory and voluntary) and develop appropriate links to further the work of the practice and the neighbourhood
- Meet professional learning and CPD requirements.
- Develop effective relationships with clinical supervisor/mentors and other colleagues.
- Contribute to the Practice achievement of QOF and other performance targets
- It would be desirable if the applicant had working knowledge of SystemOne
- A keen interest in managing health inequalities would be advantageous

- Responsible for health and safety of themselves and others and for reporting and actively co-operating in Alliance and Practice Health and Safety Policies and procedures.
- Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence.
