Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated GP partner to join our happy, dedicated team at The New Surgery, Chesham. The vacancy is for six to eight sessions a week. Working alongside the rest of our team, you will be required to provide a full range of GP services to our patients.

We are based in a modern, purpose-built medical centre with on-site parking.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to provide the full range of usual GP services to patients of all ages. This will include face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations, dealing with queries from patients, checking and issuing prescriptions, making appropriate referrals and dealing with all paperwork in a timely manner.

As a partner you will be expected to be a strong team player who is able to positively contribute to the development of the Practice.

About us

The New Surgery is a six-partner Practice supported by an excellent dedicated team of nurses and admin/reception team. We also have additional clinical support from a Physiotherapist, Mental Health Practitioner, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Pharmacist.

We are a GMS practice with a list size of 11,000, based in a purpose-built medical centre that we share with another GP surgery and a dentist. There is also a pharmacy on the ground floor.

Our patient satisfaction results have been the highest in Bucks in both the 2022 and 2023 National Patient Survey. We are an EMIS practice, rated GOOD by CQC.

Job responsibilities

The delivery of highly effective medical care to our patients via surgery consultations, telephone consultations, electronic messaging and home visits

Dealing with patient queries (EMIS tasks), test results, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion

Checking and signing prescriptions, adhering to local and national guidance

Effective management of long-term conditions

On a rotational basis undertake duty doctor role

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Contribute to the effective management of the practice, including administration, planning, strategy etc

Show leadership qualities, working collaboratively, ensuring an even distribution of the practice workload

Identify, implement and embed best practice through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings and partnership meetings as required

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Remain fully focused on the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

Participate in practice audits as required
