Job summary

Were looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised Health Care Assistant/Administrator to join our small, friendly, but busy practice.

This is a varied role combining patient-facing clinical duties with essential administrative tasks. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to prioritise work effectively.

You'll play an important part in ensuring high standards of patient care, supporting the practice team, and maintaining a professional and efficient service. All duties must be carried out in line with practice policies and guidelines, ensuring that day-to-day activities run smoothly and consistently.

Main duties of the job

Participating in achievement of QOF, DES/LES & other targets

Health Promotion

NHS Health checks

Learning Disability Annual Health Checks

New patient registration checks

BP monitoring

Urinalysis

Phlebotomy

Assist with immunisations maintaining and practice records

Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the practice.

Weight & height monitoring with lifestyle advice.

Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere

Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar

Verify patient information and update records as necessary

Answer phone calls and respond to enquiries in a professional and timely manner

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the reception area

Collaborate with healthcare providers and other staff members to ensure efficient workflow

Completing any relevant clinical forms prior to patients appointments

Support the GP to make referrals to hospital departments

Arrange follow up appointments at the GPs request

Review any documents sent in by patients & code information in the patient records

Signpost patients to the most relevant Clinician

Add information onto the clinical systems

Summarisation of medical records

Undertake general administrative duties

About us

We are a traditional, expanding, patient focused and innovative dispensing practice of 2808 patients and are a high QOF achiever. Kirkoswald Surgery has an outstanding CQC assessment and lies in the picturesque Eden Valley, on the edge of the Lake District National Park and 8 miles from Penrith with its excellent transport links, schools and amenities. We are very much a part of our local community and our excellent relationship with our patients is based on mutual care and respect. We have high rates of accessibility for patients, running a remote triage system with most of the workload being dealt with on the same day and have high patient satisfaction scores. We are a small, friendly and cohesive team of GPs, Practice Nurses, HCA and Dispensers all supported by a superb admin team as well as being part of Eden PCN.
