Job summary

You will be the first point of contact for patients calling or visiting the practice and it is essential that you project a smart, professional, and friendly image at all times. Excellent telephone skills are essential, plus a helpful and efficient approach when dealing with patients, colleagues and visitors.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a team player who will thrive in a high-pressure environment. You should be reliable, have good time keeping skills and a strong work ethic.

Experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. An ability to cover for extra shifts (planned absences and to cover at short notice) is essential.

We are a GP Practice based in Mitcham looking to recruit a part-time/ full time receptionist with excellent communication skills to join our friendly team.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and Staffing Levels:

a. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system

b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers' request appropriately

d. signpost patients to the correct services

e. Initiating contact with an responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

f. clinically code date on EMIS Web

g.Direct requests for information

h. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

i. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

j. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
