Job summary

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Admin/Receptionist (part time or full time) to join our established GP practice team. This role plays a key part in the effective day to day running of the practice and in delivering a high quality, patient focused administrative and reception service.

The post holder will act as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a polite, professional, and efficient service both face to face and via the telephone. The role involves liaising with patients, clinicians, ensuring information is handled accurately, confidentially, and in accordance with practice policies and NHS standards.

We welcome applications from individuals who are organised, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a busy environment. Experience of working in primary care and knowledge of SystmOneor EMIS would be required. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise workloads, work well as part of a team, and use their own initiative when required.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide reception cover and act as the first point of contact for patients
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service, including professional telephone communication
  • Support with insurance documentation and private medical reports
  • Manage community and hospital referrals, including eRS referrals
  • Invite and recall patients for regular health checks and appointments
  • Register new patients and update patient records accurately
  • Triage and process eConsults in line with practice procedures
  • Assist the management team with administrative tasks and day to day support
  • Support the handling of patient queries and complaints in a professional and confidential manner
  • Use clinical systems such as SystmOne and AccuRx
  • Carry out general administrative and clerical duties, including scanning, filing, document management
  • Assist with any other administrative duties as required to support the smooth running of the practice
