Medical Receptionist

Job summary

We are seeking to appointment a receptionist to join our team. The weekly hours for this role will be 20-24 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, enthusiastic and have excellent customer service, communication and problem solving skills. Previous NHS reception would be an advantage as well as knowledge of EMIS clinical system

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasions, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependant upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

a. Dealing with appointment requests, both face to face and over the telephone

b. Dealing with patient queries, both face to face and over the telephone

c. Responding to the needs of the clinicians

d. Greeting and directing patients to booked appointments.

e. Greeting and directing visitors tot he surgery

f. Requests for medication

g. Dealing with incoming tasks from internal and external sources

h. Inputting data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

i. Making referrals to and liaising with, external healthcare professionals, ie District Nurses, First Contact Physio, Mental Health Practitioners

j. Input and extract information from the Practice clinical system

Wrekenton Medical Group has 12200 patients in a partial deprived area and is led by 5 GP Partners, supported by 5 Salaried GP's, 3 Practices Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate, 3 Health Care Assistants, 17 admin staff (split into admin and receptionists), 2 Pharmacists and our PCN colleagues (pharmacists, counsellors, mental health practitioners, paramedics, social prescribers)

We enjoy the work but it is busy and can be demanding so there is plenty of support from the team. A good supply of refreshments and snacks help and the partners do provide food regularly for the team on Fridays to say thank you.
