We have an exciting opportunity for a receptionist to join our reception team in Workington Primary Care Centre.
You will be the first point of contact for patients, general public and health care professionals attending the Workington Primary Care Centre and provide an efficient reception service ensuring a high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, discretion and tact at all times.
We provide urgent same day appointments on behalf of the Workington GP Practice as well as a walk in minor injury service, home visiting service, Frail Elderly Team and wound/vascular team. This is a very busy, fast paced, changing environment so the successful candidate must be able to work in a demanding andchallenging environmentand be adaptable to change.
The post will be supervised, however, you will require the ability to make decisions regarding problems arising in the reception and waiting area.
Flexibility is an essential part of the role.
You will be required to work as part of 7 day weekly rota in rotation with other staff members covering our opening hours ofMonday Friday from 8am 8pm and Saturday & Sunday 9am 4pm.

Have excellent inter-personal skills, both
face to face and on the telephone
Receive
and process all incoming calls to reception and deal with enquiries from
patients efficiently in a polite and professional manner, taking messages
accurately and ensuring they are passed on to the appropriate person in a
timely manner ensuring all urgencies are dealt with a thorough and concise
approach
Will
deliver a high standard of customer care and can remain calm, confident
and professional under pressure.
Responsible
for the management and preparation of the 24 hour ambulatory BP and ECG
equipment, ensuring the equipment is programmed correctly and the data is
sent to the relevant teams when returned from the patient.
Ensure all pathology samples are the correct documentation
and placed in the appropriate collection point.
Maintaining and monitoring the Primary Care Centre appointments
system ensuring efficient use of the appointments available and appropriate
housekeeping for the system.
Sending emails, emailing documentation, and dealing with internal
and external post for the department.

Workington Health Limited is an organisation who work alongside the Workington GP Practice and have adopted an innovative approach to the delivery of urgent care in Workington.
We are based in the Workington Primary Care Centre located in Workington Community Hospital. The centre is open 7 days a week, Monday Friday from 8am 8pm and Saturday & Sunday 9am 4pm.

To participate
in compiling relevant daily departmental statistics and enter data onto
relevant spreadsheet
Ensure that
the clinicians are aware of patients who require immediate and urgent attention.
Receive
highly sensitive and confidential information and ensure strict
confidentiality at all times. This includes adhering to Information
Governance, GDPR, and appropriate record maintenance and security.
At the
end of shift ensure unresolved problems are properly handed over to
relevant personnel before leaving the department and dealt with in a
timely manner.
Work
in a collaborative and co-operative manner with the Workington GP Practice,
North Cumbria Primary Care, Cumbria Health on Call (CHOC), North West
Ambulance Service, Accident & Emergency, NHS 111, Cumbria Constabulary
and Community and Secondary Care Services.
To
ensure that the rights, confidentiality and privacy of the patient are
observed at all times.
To be
conversant and comply with the Health & Safety Policy and procedures
including fire precautions and procedures for evacuation.
To
provide cover for colleagues who are absent due to annual leave or
sickness as and when required and be flexible to shift changes
where required.
When
last on duty in the evening ensure that the Primary Care Centre is totally
secured, closed down and that internal lights are switched off and the
alarm is activated.
To carry
out any other duties that are within your area of competence and
considered relevant to the post.
