Job summary

To assess, diagnose, treat, refer or signpost patients/service users to attend surgery with undifferentiated or undiagnosed condition relating to minor illness or minor injury.

The post holder will use advanced clinical skills to provide education to service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.

They will work closely with the On-Call doctor to help with emergencies and home visits on the day.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role is to carry out telephone and face to face consultations. Home Visits are also added to the clinical lists once all consultations have been completed.

The post holder will have appointments that are linked to minor illness or minor injury.

At The Oaks Medical Centre we have 64 members of staff which include GP's, Nurses, Paramedics, Physicians Associates, Management Team, Receptionist, Prescribers, Data and Admin team and Secretary teams.

Job responsibilities

The role will provide a specialist Paramedic resource for Health Care Professionals and service users of The Oaks Medical Centre.

The role will involve working as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic, in the provision of a holistic approach for individuals including assessment, diagnosis and treatment to deliver quality patient services.

The post holder will use advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients and service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.

The post holder will assess, diagnose, treat, refer or signpost patients and or service users who attend the surgery with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or minor injury, both in surgery and in home settings. The post holder will coordinate telephone triage, taking clinical responsibility for all patients who have requested an urgent appointment.

The post holder will perform any other clinical and clinical administrative duties where trained and determined safe to do so by the organisation. This may include assisting with medical reports, safeguarding, and clinic support.

The post holder will be fully supervised by the On-call GP, every day.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Health and Care professions council registration
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Able to operate at an advanced level of clinical practice

Desirable

  • Qualification in Minor Injury/Illness course
  • Qualification in Prescribing course
  • Vaccination qualification

Experience

  • Working knowledge of the NHS, principles and values
  • Ability to write comprehensive clinical notes, implement and evaluate care plans
  • Working knowledge of the NHS, principles and values
