Job summary
Clinical Coder / Medical Secretary with experience of working in General Practice required to code incoming documentation and act as Medical Secretary.
Must be familiar with SystmOne and experienced in clinically coding eDocs and dealing with referrals and pathways.
The practice is moving towards becoming a paper-light
environment, and it is the responsibility of the post-holder will be to
clinically code all patient correspondence and summarise and code relevant
information from patients clinical records into the practice clinical system,
working strictly in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol.
To provide Medical Secretarial support to the
practice manager, doctors and health professionals, typing patient
correspondence ie: referral/hospital letters, private referrals and miscellaneous
reports and letters for third parties and assisting where possible with general
clerical work.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Coder / Medical Secretary with experience of working in General Practice.
Adding clinical codes to incoming documentation and summarising patient's records.
Act as backup Medical Secretary and provide full cover when our Senior Medical Secretary is on leave.

Telephone work dealing with incoming calls, ringing patients, hospitals, make patient appointments where appropriate, review Leeds
Care Record when needed, liaise with hospital departments.
Enter admin notes on clinical system to record telephone
conversations. Dealing with practice
tasks. Filing and extracting records when needed.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing
the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient
and effective way. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to
assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of
secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the
practice team
Facilitate effective communication between
patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other
associated healthcare agencies. Such other duties as may from time to time be
agreed between the post holder and the Practice Manger or doctors to ensure the
smooth running of the practice.
