We are a single-handed GP Practice in Billingham and are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Reception Team.
Main duties of the job
To ensure the smooth running of the Reception so that the Practice operates smoothly and efficiently for both patients and staff.
About us
We are a small team consisting of 1 GP, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, 2 Receptionists, 1 Receptionist/ Secretary, 1 Apprentice and a Practice Manager.
Even though the Team is small, there is a great atmosphere and everyone is very friendly.
Everyone always pulls together in support of the Practice and each other.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties:
- Dealing with private and confidential
information ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Answering the telephone courteously and dealing
with telephone calls as appropriate.
- Greeting patients on the arrival at the
Practice and assisting them as appropriate.
- Using computerised system to book patient
appointments.
- Ensuring that emergency calls are passed to the
Doctor on duty without delay.
- Ensuring accurate maintenance of medical
records, computerised and paper copies.
- Taking messages, ensuring name, telephone
number and full details of message is taken.
- Opening, stamping, and distributing post to
relevant staff.
- Issuing repeat prescriptions and preparing them
for signing.
- Taking and making ambulance bookings as
instructed.
- Updating computer communication from hospitals
and different departments.
- Any other clerical duties that may be required
from time to time, to ensure the smooth running of the Practice.
