Job summary
Working along side a dedicated and committed team of receptionists to provide front of house reception and administration duties to a diverse ethnicity of patients.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties are Call answering and dealing face to face with Patients, making appointments and printing Prescriptions. Filing and other aspects of patient care as required by the business.
Starting Working Hours: Because our surgery is open from 8am it is essential that a potential candidate will be definitely able to come at 8am to start reception work.
Working Days to be covered: From Monday to Friday. Morning shift starts from 8am and ends at 1:30pm. Afternoon shift starts from 1:30pm to 7pm. Candidate must be able to cover Extended Hours Shift on Wednesday evening from 3pm to 8:30pm one or two times per month.
Candidate will be required to cover reception staff during their annual leave and sickness. This is required from each member of reception staff as a mutual support.
Total Working Hours per Week: 22 hours

A 2 partner GP practice covering a diverse selection of patients, 2 Practice Nurses and salaried GP's. We have 5 reception staff along with administration staff all working together as a team to cover the needs of our patients. Job responsibilities
Open premises (making sure door grill is open at rear of premises and locks undone on front fire door) Check heating, ventilation 10 minutes before the start of surgery
Making computerised appointments for Doctors and Nurse
Receiving and directing patients on arrival
Taking prescription requests (over the phone requests for housebound only)
Answering general enquiries, and explaining surgery procedures.
Setting out letters, repeat prescriptions for checking/signing by Doctors before collection
Printing repeat prescriptions on computer
Filing and extracting patient records in date order and any other document relating to them, which
includes filing records of new patients received from Health Authority (making sure they are tagged by receptionist and summarised first).
Also extracting records of withdrawals from list to be sent
back to Health Authority.
Ensuring that an adequate supply of stationary is available in the consulting rooms and reception area
Receiving and recording requests for home visits on the Doctors computer list.
Receiving and acting on messages received
Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues and that
information regarding any unresolved or urgent matters is passed.
Updating computer by adding read code information from hospital letters
information received from patients re change of address, telephone No. etc
Register and Deduct patients via GP Links
Arrange for District Nurse to visit patients
