Leatside
Health Centre is looking for an enthusiastic salaried GP, to join our friendly,
and supportive team for a permanent contract.
We are forward thinking and committed to providing multidisciplinary
services for our local population. We are also an established training practice
(with GP Registrars and Medical Students).
We
adopted the BMA recommendation of 25 x 15-minute appointments a couple of years
ago to help build a positive work live balance.
We
hold a daily coffee session, with the opportunity for clinical staff to discuss
any patient/clinical issues.
We
are a large busy surgery located in Redruth, Cornwall, and have a combined list
of circa 16,700 patients, with 7 Partners.
We are members of North Kerrier East PCN.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
- In accordance with the
Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including
surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, home visits, checking and signing prescriptions and dealing
with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self- referred
or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease
risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current
Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients
to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
- Delivering enhanced services.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat
prescriptions.
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice
prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever
this is clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder will be expected
to undertake all the normal
duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

You will be required to:
Provide all GP services required
Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate
Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice
Adhere to the practice prescribing formulary, local and national guidelines
Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
Record clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards
Compile and issue computer generated acute, and repeat prescriptions
Support practice staff, and respond to requests for advice and assistance from the reception, secretarial, prescription, PA and nursing staff
Attend MDT, clinical and practice meetings
Provide additional enhanced services to the practice that meet the needs of the patient population and maximise income streams to the practice
