Leatside Health Centre is looking for an enthusiastic salaried GP with Partnership opportunities in the future, to join our friendly, and supportive team. We are forward thinking and committed to providing multidisciplinary services for our local population. We are also an established training practice (with GP Registrars and Medical Students).

Main duties of the job

  • Supported by the clinical and management team the post holder will act as one of the regular GPs within the practice, working alongside the practice team.
  • Provide general medical services for the practice population to a high standard dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting. Comply with the practices General Medical Services (GMS) contract, DES/LES contracts and adhere to the principles of good medical practice.

  • Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate
  • Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice
  • Adhere to the practice prescribing formulary, local and national guidelines
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Record clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Compile and issue computer generated acute, and repeat prescriptions
  • Support practice staff, and respond to requests for advice and assistance from the reception, secretarial, prescription, PA and nursing staff
  • Provide additional enhanced services to the practice that meet the needs of the patient population and maximise income streams to the practice

About us

We are a large busy surgery located in Redruth, Cornwall, and have a combined list of circa 17,000 patients, with 6 Partners. We are members of North Kerrier East PCN.

We hold a daily coffee session, with the opportunity for clinical staff to discuss any patient/clinical issues.

You will be required to:

  • Special interest or expertise in specific areas of medicine such as dermatology - paediatrics - or mental health which can enhance the practice's service offerings.
