Roath House Surgery is a well established, forward thinking GP practice situated in the heart of Penylan, Cardiff,
overlooking Roath Park and just moments from the cafes, shops and amenities of
Wellfield Road.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice
Manager to provide senior operational leadership and to work closely with our
four GP Partners to support the ongoing development, stability and success of
the practice.
This is a pivotal leadership role within a genuinely supportive
and approachable environment, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful
contribution to highquality patient care and staff wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Manager is the senior nonclinical lead and a core member of the practice leadership team. Working in close partnership with the GP Partners, the post holder will ensure the smooth, safe and effective running of all operational, administrative and organisational aspects of the practice.
Key responsibilities include
- Leadership, support and development of reception, administrative and nonclinical staff
- Oversight of HR, finance, IT systems, premises management, governance and statutory compliance
- Supporting service development, training activity and longterm sustainability
- Maintaining clear communication and strong working relationships across the whole practice
- Acting as the principal point of contact with the Health Board, cluster colleagues and external stakeholders
This role offers scope to influence how the practice operates daytoday while contributing strategically to its future direction.

About the Practice
Roath House Surgery is a GMS practice serving around 15,000 patients across two sites, including a branch surgery close to Cardiff University. The practice is an active member of the North Cardiff Cluster and is a wellestablished training practice, supporting medical students, Foundation Doctors (FY1 and FY2), GP Specialty Trainees, and pharmacy students and pharmacists undertaking Independent Prescribing training.
The practice provides a wide range of services, including contraception, transgender healthcare, clinical support for Safe at Home and Prison services, minor surgery and joint injections, and a variety of enhanced and specialist clinics delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team.
About the Team
The practice is known for being friendly, welcoming and well run, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, respect and approachability. The clinical team includes four GP Partners, nine salaried GPs, three practice nurses, a Healthcare Assistant, two fulltime in-house pharmacists. Administrative support comprises a senior management team of three,five administrative staff and a reception team of eight, including two dedicated prescription clerks.

The Practice Manager is responsible for the day today operational management of Roath House and Park Place Surgeries and provides senior leadership to the practice. The role involves working closely with the GP Partners to ensure high quality, safe and sustainable services for patients, alongside a supportive working environment for staff.

Leadership and Management
