Job summary
Cumberland House Surgery are looking for a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic Clinical Coder/Summariserto join our administrative team.
TheClinical Coder/Summariseris primarily responsible for ensuring that all external and internal patient correspondence is acted upon at the appropriate level and accurately coded in the patients medical record.
The role includes:
- Familiarity with DOCMAN and EMIS Web clinical software.
- Ensuring that all incoming patient correspondence is scanned, acted upon and correctly coded to ensure the integrity of patient records.
Accurately summarise patient records.
Experience in medical terminology and clinical coding is desirable.
All work must be carried out with strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols.

On occasion you will be required to help with
reception duties this will include, answering the telephone and always dealing
with appointment requests and any other patient query in a courteous
manner. You may be required to work in
the reception office dealing with patients and other visitors to the surgery.
To participate in
the administrative responsibilities of the practice team:
Ensure accurate records of all consultations and treatments are recorded
in the patients computer records.
Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with
patients health care and registration within the practice.
Ensure the collection and maintenance of accurate statistical information
required for regular and ad-hoc reports.
Attend and participate in meetings as required.
Assisting in the formulating and strategy of practice policy.
Record accurately and adhere to the system for repeat prescription policy
and refer where appropriate to the GP.
Edit and summarise notes when prompted to do so and use recognised codes
to record information.
