Manston Surgery is pleased to advertise this exciting
opportunity to join our dispensing surgery at our Scholes site. We are seeking an organised,
proactive and motivated individual, ideally who has undertaken the Accuracy Checking Dispensing Assistant course or who is a qualified Dispensing Assistant willing to undertake the course.
The Practice Dispenser is a key member of the healthcare
team responsible for ensuring the accuracy, safety, and compliance of dispensed
medications within the GP surgery setting. This role requires a high level of
attention to detail, a thorough understanding of pharmaceutical regulations,
and effective collaboration with healthcare professionals to maintain patient
safety.
You will work alongside our existing Dispenser under the
direction of the Lead GP to ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of
prescribed medication to patients.
There will also be a requirement to cover reception at
certain times of the day to assist in the smooth running of the surgery.
Main duties of the job
- Take and process prescription requests in line with Practice
standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Select and label pharmaceutical products in accordance with
a prescription by following SOPs and complying with all legal requirements.
- Ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to
patients, ensuring correct prescription charges are collected and prescriptions
are filled in and completed correctly.
- To accurately maintain Patient Medication Records (PMR) to
ensure patient safety and in accordance with data protection requirements.
- To identify medicine related problems or queries and bring
these to the attention of a more senior dispenser or GP.
- To answer queries on the supply and availability of
medicines
- Promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related
correspondence to the Practice Manager
- Receive stock in accordance with SOPs
- Send off monthly scripts to the Prescriptions Pricing
Authority according to dispensary protocol.
- Reception duties to include but not limited to, booking
appointments using care navigation, responding to tasks and any other duties as
directed by the Practice Manager
