Job Title: HCA Treatment Centre, Bournemouth East Primary Care Network
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: OOH sessions, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
16.00-20.00 and Saturday 09.00-17.00 (To be discussed at interview)
Salary: £11.45 per hour.

Bournemouth East
Collaborative Primary Care Network PCN, comprises four like-minded practices
working together in East Bournemouth, Dorset, with a strong reputation on
quality improvement and investing in its employees. The PCN serves a population
of approximately 55,000 patients with a diverse demographic.

Shelley Manor Medical Centre and Holdenhurst Road
Littledown Surgery
Beaufort Road Surgery
Southbourne Surgery

Our Network teams include:
Enhanced Care Visiting
team for frail housebound patients and those in care homes. The team includes
visiting GPs, ANPs, Paramedic, Frailty Nurses, Care Coordinators, Pharmacist.
BEC Urgent Care
Treatment Centre working out of the Private Suite at Shelley Manor Medical
Centre.
First Contact
Physiotherapy Practitioner service.
Digital Care
Coordinator, Digital Champions.
Mental Health
practitioners.
Health and Wellbeing
Coaches within Help and Care team.
The role
We are recruiting forHCAs, for the
following departments:
PCN Treatment Centre based at Shelley Manor
Medical Centre, Bournemouth BH5 1LX, including Out of hours service delivery.
Both roles will require an Enhanced
DBS Clearance. Should you have this certificate as part of the DBS
subscription service, we would be happy to accept this providing the original
is shown. Otherwise, you will be expected to complete a new application.
Main duties and responsibilities (this list is not
exhaustive):
Working
in the treatment centre under the direction of qualified clinicians.
Phlebotomy including
DOAC clinics
To
collect venous-capillary blood samples without harm to patient or self by
following the phlebotomy standard operating procedures.
To
obtain such blood samples to a standard fit for laboratory testing ensuring
collection, maintaining appropriate files and records as required.
To
ensure that all phlebotomy equipment and accommodation is properly maintained
and suitable for use.
Undertake ECGs
Dopplers
Dressings
NHS Healthchecks
Hypertension clinics
Training will be provided in these areas, depending
on experience. We are also able to support NVQ qualification.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (this list is not exhaustive)
Essential criteria
GCSEs
or similar, to include English Language and Maths
Qualified
in Phlebotomy
To
demonstrate and be up to date competency and understanding of phlebotomy
technique and sampling conditions
Ability
to deal with distressed patients in an empathic, caring and compassionate way.
Ability
to write and maintain accurate clinical records
Have
strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office
To have
working knowledge of SystmOne
Good
time management skills
Be able
to prioritise their day and be familiar with all routine blood tests and
understand their clinical importance
To be
able to work independently within a team structure and possess excellent
communication skills
Demonstrate
a flexible approach to work and to follow instructions and guidance given to
them
Desirable criteria
NVQ
level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care
Previous
experience of working in a Primary Care
Previous
HCA or Phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting
