Practice Nurse
We have an
exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated
Practice Nurse to join our well established, friendly practice.
The main
responsibilities are to provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care
for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other
members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks
normally undertaken by an RGN and any additional roles agreed between the nurse
and the doctors as appropriate to role.
To be successful applicants must have excellent communication skills, organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and be able tomaintain confidentiality at all times. The post holder must be a team player and have the ability to work using their own initiative. A good knowledge of SystmOne is desirable.

Job responsibilities
You will work alongside the clinician(s) in the provision of patient care, which will include undertaking and recording the following tasks:
- Injections (Flu, Covid, B12, Pneumococcal)
- Childhood Immunisations
- Travel Immunisations
- Smears
- ECG
- Urinalysis
- Measurement of Blood Pressure, Temperature, and Pulse
- Peak Flow Measurements
- Dressings
- Screening, including New Patients and over 75 Checks
- Smoking Cessation
You will also be expected to:
- Enable patients to access appropriate professionals in the practice team
- Act as a chaperone
- Assist with minor operations, secondary care, and other operative procedures
- Appreciate the principles of Healthy Living
- Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients, including ensuring all patient notice boards are kept up to date with promotional information on topical campaigns
- Make sure stocks of nurses' and doctors' materials, e.g. blood bottles, dressing, etc., are up to date and not expired
Care and Programme Management
- Clearly present patients' points of view to others
- Ensure stock items are ordered and provided in GP and Treatment Rooms, including emergency equipment
- Follow infection control standards
- Contribute new ideas to improve patient care
Clinical Practice Leadership
- Work effectively in a team
- Interact with patients and colleagues in a professional manner
- Assist in clinical audit
Clinical Practice Development
- Maintain set standards of organisation in Practice
