Job summary
MPA are looking to recruit an enthusiastic experienced practice nurse to join our friendly and dynamic nursing team, to be based at Princes Park Medical Centre working 30 hours per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday). You will play a vital part in providing high-quality nursing care and supporting the health and well-being of our patients.
The ideal candidate will have experience in administering immunisations, carrying our cervical screening tests and working in General Practice carrying out face to face consultations. Please see the Job Description for full details.
You will be working closely with salaried GPs; practice nurses; advanced nurse practitioners; Physician Associate; health care assistants; Podiatrists and Phlebotomists and approximately 33 administration staff including reception. We are friendly, approachable and supportive of our staff and encourage our staff to reach their full potential. We are keen increase out nursing team.
Essential to have excellent computer, patient /people skills along with an eye for detail and be prepared to be flexible being a key member of the clinical team influencing and developing the role
An understanding of the EMIS Web or similar clinical system is essential
Main duties of the job
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cytology and women's health
- Removal of Sutures
- New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
- Travel Clinic
- ECGs
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry if ARTP trained
- Venepuncture
- Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations/Adult vaccinations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs, blood samples for LTCs
- Interest in coronary heart disease and Hypertension monitoring
- Contraception.
- Long term conditions management: COPD, Asthma, Diabetes
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Other tasks will include
- Clean equipment
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Maintaining the clinical/medical fridge and participating in audits
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- Attend and participate in any Practice and PLT meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
