Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our primary care team. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a busy GP practice/primary care setting.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our clinical team, supporting the delivery of preventative care, and general treatment room services. You will play a vital role in enhancing patient experience, improving access to care, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of clinical services here at Farley Road Medical Practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake routine clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturations, height, weight, and BMI.

  • Perform venepuncture (phlebotomy), urinalysis, ECGs, and simple wound care (within competency).

  • Ear irrigation

  • Assist with health promotion activities, including lifestyle advice and NHS Health Checks.

  • Participate in vaccination and immunisation clinics as directed.

    REPORTS TO: NURSE MANAGER/THE PARTNERS (Clinically)

    THE PRACTICE MANAGER (Administratively)

    DAYS: 2.5 DAYS PER WEEK - HOURS TO BE CONFIRMED

    Job Summary:

    To assist medical personnel in the care of Practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the smooth running of treatment room services and patient flow.

  • Adhere to practice policies, confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary primary care team.

  • Ensure clinical rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared in line with infection prevention and control standards.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using electronic patient systems.

  • Chaperone patients during examinations in line with practice policy.

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of clinical waste and sharps.

  • Maintain cold chain compliance for vaccines and medications.

  • Monitor and record stock levels of clinical supplies and order replacements as required.

  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement activities.

  • Participate in practice meetings, training sessions, and mandatory updates.

  • Maintain own professional development and work within competency boundaries at all times.

  • Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.

  • Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
