Job summary

We are looking for an experienced phlebotomist to join and compliment our busy team. We would also consider an experienced HCA willing to train as a phlebotomist. Previous health care experience preferred.

Main duties of the job

Arrange daily activities based on urgency of requests

Identify patients and their personal information using their ID cross checked against the patientsclinical records stored within Emis.

Decide the right sample bottles set against the blood form requirements and the required and determine the correct venepuncture method based on the patients veins, age, health etc.

Reassure patients and help them relax

Find veins that are suitable for puncture.

Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment

Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples.

Label samples correctly and place them in the blue bag awaiting transport collection at the allotted time ready to send them for testing

Answer patient questions and provide useful information

Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests

Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working

About us

We are a GP surgery covering 3 sites. We have 4 GP partners, 2 ANP's, 4 Practice nurses, 1 GP Assistant and 1 HCA. The ideal candidate must be a team player who will compliment and support our clinical Team.

The ideal candidate will have relevant skills such as presence of mind, people skills and attention to detail.

You should have a certificate or diploma in phlebotomy and have knowledge of puncture techniques however training will be given to the right candidate.
