Job summary
Due to an existing member of the reception team leaving, Aughton Surgery is looking for a part-time GP Receptionist to work 24 hours per week over 4 days.
Whilst normal working days/hours will be set on a rota, there will be plenty of opportunity for additional hours and overtime. The successful candidate must be flexible to assist with covering holidays and sickness.
The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of working in a busy GP practice, and will project a positive, friendly image when dealing with patients at the surgery and on the phone.
Main duties of the job
Candidates should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, and it is desirable (but not essential) to have experience of working in a GP practice. Previous experience of working with the general public and/or customer service is essential.

Reception/Admin Duties:
- General medical reception duties such as greeting patients, booking appointments and dealing with queries
- Answering phone calls
- Actioning tasks received from clinical staff
- Administrative and clerical support to clinical and management team
- Monitor and respond to emails on the generic practice account
- Liaise with external parties such as secondary care, community teams and care homes
- Direct patients to appropriate services
The above list is not exhaustive, and other reception/admin duties would be required as needed by the practice.
About us
Aughton Surgery has 4 partners (3 GP's and 1 Practice Manager), 3 Salaried GP's, 1 Physician Associate, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 HCA and 1 Clinical Pharmacist. We are also a training practice, so we regularly have GP registrars, medical students and student physician associates as part of our team as well.
Our clinical staff are assisted by a friendly and knowledgeable admin/reception team.
All staff are highly supportive, and the surgery is a very enjoyable environment to work in
