Main duties of the job
Provide a first point of contact for patients and visitors to the practice
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection
Act and Practice Policy
Answer the telephone as promptly as possible, making appointments for
patients and answering queries, questions and booking appointments into appropriate
clinical sessions
Enter requests for home visits onto the clinical system ensuring careful
recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor
Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure
that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are
seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
Take messages of a clinical nature and pass to the appropriate clinical
professional for action (these can on occasions be a medical emergency)
Open and distribute post.
Action and complete tasks
Register new patients and temporary residents in accordance with
Practice procedure
Keep reception area, waiting room and workstations tidy and free from
clutter
To be available to assist in holiday and sickness cover on reception
Attend and contribute to Practice Meetings

Medical Receptionist / Admin - £11 per hour Seaton and Colyton Medical Practice is looking for permanent full or part time Medical Receptionist, working up to 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. This will include some 8am starts and 6pm finishes. We are a busy, growing GP surgery with our main site in Seaton and a branch surgery in Colyton. The successful candidate must have an excellent telephone manner and communication skills. Previous experience in an Admin role or customer service environment is desirable, however not essential as full training will be given. The successful applicant will provide reception and administration support to the clinical and practice team. The impression created is very important and strongly influences how patients feel about the practice. Working as part of a team committed to providing the best possible level of care, you will need to be flexible in your approach to work and responsibilities.
