Job summary

Heartwood Medical Practice is a well-established and respected GP Practice in the centre of Swadlincote, based within the modern Swadlincote Health Centre.

Heartwood has recently gone through a period of growth, reflected by an ongoing increase in team members. To complement our friendly and supportive team, we are seeking an additional receptionist to work part time time hours.

PLEASE NOTE - Previous medical receptionist experience in a GP Surgery is essential.

Main duties of the job

This post provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, hardworking and reliable individual to join our reception team. The successful candidate must have previous experience of reception work within a GP surgery environment, ideally using SystmOne. The role will include reception - both dealing with patients over the phone and in person, and associated administration.

Heartwood Medical Practice has a patient list of 11,000, supported by a team of almost 40 staff, including 3 Partner GPs, 2 Salaried GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Practice Nurses, Health and Wellbeing Coach, Health Care Assistants and Administration team.

Our team is friendly and supportive and will help new members of staff settle into the role.

Job responsibilities

The role

Receptionist to work on a part time basis, around 20 hours per week.

Shift pattern to be agreed between the opening hours of 7.15am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to cover team annual leave absence is essential.

This post provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, hardworking and reliable individual to join our reception team. Previous experience of working as a receptionist in healthcare setting is essential.

Requirements for this post:

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to remain calm, courteous and professional when working under pressure and dealing with difficult situations

Respectful of patient confidentiality at all times, ideally previous experience of working within a confidential environment

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Good IT knowledge and skills, ideally previous experience of clinical systems, such as SystmOne and Microsoft packages including MS Teams

Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology

Ability to be flexible to provide holiday/sickness absence cover in addition to contracted hours

Duties may vary from time to time under the direction of the management team, depending on current and evolving practice workload and staff levels
