Job summary

  • GPs are often the initial point of contact for patients' health concerns.

    They provide care considering a patient's physical, emotional, and social well-being.

    GPs treat a range of common and chronic illnesses, managing long-term conditions to keep patients healthy.

    They refer patients to hospitals or specialists for more complex conditions or urgent treatments.

    GPs work within communities, building relationships with patients and understanding their local context.

    GPs are involved in promoting good health, preventing illness, and initiating treatments.

    They work as part of a wider healthcare team to discuss and coordinate patient care.

Main duties of the job

Core responsibilities

Delivery of highly effective medical care to the population

Provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

Clinically examine & assess patient needs from a physiological & psychological perspective. Plan clinical care, referring patients to services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice & local guidelines

Prescribing, adhering to local & national guidance

Prioritise health problems. Intervene appropriately including initiation of effective emergency care

Manage long-term conditions

Support patients to adopt strategies that promote healthy lifestyles

Review medications, following appropriate policies

Maintain accurate clinical records along with good practice, policy & guidance

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Deliver anticipatory care plans

Commit to the implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives

Accept delegated responsibility for specific areas of QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings

Apply current legislation, adhere to practice policies & procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

Comply with the appraisal process

Prepare and complete the revalidation process

Be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

About us

The Practice currently cares for 8,500+ patients cared for by a team of 3 Partners, 2 salaried GPs, an ANP, 2 Practice Nurses, a Practice Pharmacist, HCAs and a mix of 10 reception/admin staff.

We are part of East Elmbridge PCN, along with 6 neighbouring practices.

We are a training practice and delight in welcoming new students. We also hold monthly staff meetings, open to all staff.

Located in East Molesey, Surrey, with parking provided.

Situated near to Hampton Court Palace and the river Thames, with a wealth of cultural and social venues.

We are looking for a candidate that shares our ethos and able to start as soon as possible.

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
