Job summary
The Phlebotomist will be a member of the Practice nursing team and will
assist with the delivery of health promotion, phlebotomy, blood pressure
monitoring and urinalysis. The
postholder will work independently under the leadership of the registered
nurses. They will support the delivery
of clinical services and will uphold the high standard of care provided and
help deliver policy and procedures across the Practice.
Hours: 27 hours per week

Main duties of the job
- Run phlebotomy sessions including urinalysis and blood pressure reading/ recording.
- The testing and result recording of clinical specimens.
- Maintain computerised records of care, treatment, advice and tests.
- Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients.
- Ensure that the drug refrigerators are at the correct temperature on a daily basis and that drugs/vaccines are within their expiry dates and used in correct sequence.
- Ensure adequate stock levels in stock room, treatment rooms, consulting rooms, fridges and cupboards.
- Ensure appropriate handling of specimens and sending them to the local pathology lab, as appropriate for further analysis where necessary.
