Job summary
Seeking a person that is excellent in Customer Service skills, has patience and can cope with a busy working environment, multi tasking and can handle what can sometimes be a stressful working day. All this with the ability to be computer literate in order to be able to find your way around a patient database.
If you can meet the above requirements then you are the person we are looking for.
The shift patterns are between 8 am and 6.30 pm and you must be available for the shared rota in these surgery open hours.
As a successful and QOF achieving practice, we pride ourselves in patient care and how we give the best service to our patients. We need staff that are wanting to give a service that they would expect to receive themselves.

About us
As a dedicated team, provide a high quality of care to all patients ensuring that their needs are met, safe and proactively monitor patient demand.
Our list size in just under 7000.
We have 10 administrative staff, 2 GP Partners, 4 GP's, 2 trainee GPs, 2 ANP, 2 nurses and 1 HCSW.

General Receptionist/Administrator

The purpose of the Receptionist is to ensure that matters
concerning the non medical care of patients, either on the premises or via the
telephone are dealt with.
Main Responsibilities:
Reception Duties
- Greeting
and directing patients and other visitors in a timely manner.
- Making
appointments and giving out appointment cards.
- Accepting,
creating and handing out prescriptions, letters completed forms specimen
bottles etc.
- Dealing
with and recording accurately requests for visits, handling general
enquiries
- Registering
new patients, temporary residents, emergency patients and those requiring
immediate treatment.
Telephone duties
- Making
appointments.
- Answer
telephone in a timely manner
- Dealing
with requests for visits and recording them accurately
- Dealing
with requests for repeat prescriptions.
- Dealing
with queries from patients and other agencies.
- Telephoning
patients, hospitals, clinics, etc. for test results and to make
appointments.
- Ordering
ambulances, both routine and emergency.
- Taking
messages and ensuring they get passed on to the appropriate person.
Information Technology
- Enter
patient data onto computer
General Duties
- Opening
mail (including courier and Health Authority) if necessary.
- Dealing
with problems and queries from doctors, other staff, attached staff and
other areas and record accurately if necessary.
- Tasks/workflow
- Filing
of medical records, letters and test results
- Receive
payment for private medical services from patients, issue receipt and
record details for practice manager.
- Ensure
mail is posted daily
- Cover
holiday and sickness duties where necessary.
- Ensure
total confidentially in that no information about patients, either medical
or personal, is disclosed to persons other than those employed by or
attached to the practice for whom such information is relevant.
- Act
as chaperone as and when necessary.
- Attend
essential training sessions, appraisals and practice meetings.
- Opening
premises in the morning or securing them at night.
- Ensure
waiting areas are neat and tidy.
- Other admin duties as agreed with
the doctor or practice manager OR office supervisor as deemed necessary
for example: QOF/Qif workflow
