Job summary
We are seeking a proactive and reliable IT Support Assistant to provide first-line technicalsupportand ensure a reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all IT and digital systems across the Health Centre. Reporting to the Practice Manager and working closely with external ITproviders, this staff-facing role supports both clinical and non-clinical teams, helping to minimise service disruption and maintain optimal system performance. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong organisational and communication skills, committed to maintaining a secure technological environment thatsupports the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to go the extra mile to troubleshoot and resolve issues across various areas of the Health Centre. Main duties of the job
The Information Technology (IT) Support Assistant is responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff and ensuring the smooth, secure, and efficient operation of all IT and digital systems across the organisation. This includes responding to support requests via phone, email, or in person, and resolving issues related to hardware, software, networks, and user accounts in a timely and professional manner. The role involves setting up, configuring, and maintaining IT equipment such as PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices as well as supporting software installations, updates, and system maintenance tasks.
The IT Support Assistant will also assist with onboarding and offboarding staff by preparing and recovering IT equipment and managing access to systems. A key part of the role is ensuring IT security and compliance with data protection policies, contributing to regular backups and system monitoring. Additionally, the post holder will provide basic training and guidance to users, maintain accurate records of support activity and equipment inventory, and liaise with external IT service providers to escalate complex issues when necessary.

We are one of the largest training practices in Devon, most of the partners are GP trainers, involved in the education of student nurses, medical students, and a variety of doctor training posts. We have an excellent relationship with our league of friends charity and our Patient Participation Group, keeping us patient focused and working together on opportunities to benefit patient care. We are the Lead Practice of NEXUS Primary Care Network (PCN), that consists of five GP Practices and covers a population of 42,000 patients. We have several PCN ARRS staff working on site at the health center providing an excellent multidisciplinary working environment. We are a modern dynamic practice and strive to balance our continued evolution with the provision of excellent family medicine.
