Job summary
Kingskerswell & Ipplepen has an excellent reputation as a friendly, hard working, high achieving, accredited training and dispensing GP practice. The practice has been rated as outstanding by CQC. GP Patient Survey results consistently confirm the strong patient centred customer focus and efficiency of the team. We operate from two fantastic purpose-built premises and serve a patient population of approximately 12,000 patients.
Candidates should be qualified and a skilled HCA with a minimum of 2 years work experience. We welcome applicants who are already trained and working as a Healthcare Assistant or candidates who require training in primary care. It is essential that you have a friendly manner, able to work confidently and in a professional manner largely unsupervised.
Main duties of the job
Healthcare Assistants undertake an interesting range of activities including: -
- Phlebotomy
- Anticoagulation/INRS
- Wound assessment and renewal of dressings
- Urine testing
- ECGs (routine and urgent)
- Health checks for new patients for the fit and healthy 4074-year-olds
- Hypertension
- Integral part of the CDM process carrying out the initial patient assessment and collecting metrics.
- Injections under PSD (B12, Influenza, Pneumonia)
- Ear Irrigation
- Support the GPs to change contraception devices/implants and with Minor surgery procedures.
- Manage stock control, rotation, and expiry dates.
Healthcare Assistant are required to work additional days covering absences of colleagues and/or attending team meetings and training events.
The practice uses the clinical system - TPP SystmOne.
