Job summary
We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic and pleasant
person for a Receptionist role within our GP Practice, who will be able to
provide general assistance to the Practice team, and project a positive and
friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the
telephone.

Reception
Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team
Deal with all general enquires, explain procedures
Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and
checking names and address.
Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new
patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed
Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General
medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipt for same
Visitors Book, visitors to be requested to sign the visitors
book
Deliveries to be recorded in the book at reception

we are based in Barking Community Hospital with other services providers. We
pride ourselves with great access with late and weekends appointments as part
of Enhanced access and on the day appointments for urgent medical problem.
We are also a local vaccination site for Covid -19
vaccination and outreach provider for residents of Barking and Dagenham.

Telephone
- Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of details and prompt appropriate delivery
Other Tasks
- Clear and re-stock consulting rooms after surgeries
- Keeping the reception are, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Any other tasks allocated by managers

- In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
- In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data
