Job summary
Northlands Surgery are looking for a Locum GP to provide maternity cover for 4 sessions per week from August 2025.
Our
purpose-built practice is situated in the historic market town of Calne, nestled in the countryside between Chippenham and Marlborough. Just 15 minutes from the M4 motorway, half hour from Bath. We pride ourselves on providing high quality, patient-centred care
with a strong team-working ethos.

Main duties of the job
The primary focus of this role is to help deliver safe and effective patient care to the patients at Northlands Surgery.
The post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultation, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries and clinical paperwork.
Making professional autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problem
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients in line with current practice disease management protocols

Session 8:30am 1:15pm 4 hours 45 minutes
1 hour admin
3 hour and 15 minutes of appointments (13 x 15-minute
appointments)
30-minute visit (1 x 30 min visits)
Afternoon
Session 2.30pm 6pm 3 hours 35 minutes
50 minutes admin
2 hours 45 minutes of appointments (11 x 15-minute appointments)
Total
8 hours 20 minutes per day.
Frequency
of appointments: 15 minutes
Number
of appointments: 24 x 15 minute consultations per day and 1 x 30 minute visit.
Total 25 patient contacts.
