We are recruiting for 2 part time GP Medical Receptionist's to work within our friendly and well established team. The working pattern will be discussed and agreed at interview.

The roles require self-motivation, resilience, and a commitment to ensuring a positive patient experience. Strong IT skills are essential, as you'll use systems for booking and communication

Working as a part of the reception team to provide a welcoming and efficient service to patients either face to face at reception, on the telephone or via our online services in accordance with practice policies and guidelines. Youll provide high-quality administrative and patient support

We have 2 part time positions available, the hours are;

  • up to 28.5 hours per week * working pattern to be agreed at interview

Main duties of the job

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Arriving patients for their appointments and directing them to the correct waiting area.
  • Booking and Managing the GP appointment system.
  • Telephone and face to face interactions with patients and the wider healthcare population
  • Checking and handing out prescriptions.
  • Responsible for printing and handling Reception Forms.
  • Using the computer based practice management system.
  • Effectively using Microsoft Outlook to manage emails.
  • Dealing with a diverse range of patient queries accordingly.
  • Data entry of patient details.
  • Filling and Scanning.
  • Completing regular administration duties.
  • Administration duties relevant to the role

  • Flexible approach in day to day tasks
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work with minimal supervision

Experience of working in a System One GP Practice is desirable but not essential. Good literacy and IT is essential as you will be expected to competently navigate all Microsoft packages. An ability to communicate well using a range of modalities is essential.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide cover for holidays and absence as and when required, and must be prepared to do so as per the requirements of the practice.

About us

Scott Road is a busy GP practice based in Selby Town Centre, with a list size of circa 11,500 patients.

We have an incredibly supportive team of 3 Partners and 4 Salaried GPs and provide a full range of services under the PMS Contract. The clinical team is supported by a strong management structure with clearly defined teams for patient services, administration and estates management.

This is an exciting role and one which will let the right candidate thrive and have the ability to be autonomous whilst being fully supported by an experienced and friendly team.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

Reception:

Ensure that an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice

Ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in an efficient and non-disruptive manner

Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure that all procedures are completed

Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately

Enter or amend patient information on the computer system as required

Deal with patients who are collecting prescriptions including the checking of names and addresses

Answer queries regarding the services offered following agreed practice procedures

Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same

Retrieve and re-file records as required, ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to

Ensure that records are kept in good repair with all necessary information on the outside cover is clearly visible

Provide clinical and other colleagues with an efficient messaging service

Carry out administration tasks as and when necessary

Open up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive and make all necessary preparations to receive patients

Act as main receptionist for Saturday morning surgeries on alternating Saturdays between 8am and 1pm

Appointment booking:

Following agreed procedures use the computerised appointment system to book, cancel or amend appointments for patients either face to face or via the telephone or online.

Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to the Same Day Care GP

Accurately sign post patients to appropriate services. I.E. Pharmacy, Urgent Treatment Centre, Online Services.

Other tasks:

Attend regular team meetings when required

Ensure familiarisation with, and work to, policies and procedures so as to ensure on going successful registration with the Care Quality Commission

Cover for other Reception staff for holidays, sickness and other additional hours for which overtime will be paid

The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment

Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development
