Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly and forward-thinking nursing team.

You will have the opportunity toattend practice meetings,be involved in regular nurse team meetings, participate in clinical supervision, attend PLIs, plus training and education where needed andlead in an area of interest to you

Main duties of the job

You will need to have chronic disease management experience, Cervical Cytology Training and a strategic understanding of general practice

About us

Dykes Hall Medical Centre is a 2 site practice based in Hillsborough S6 and Stannington. We currently have approximately 9,000 patients over the two sites. We have 4 partners and 3 Salaried GP's, A well established nursing team which consists of ANP's, GPN's and HCA's and a pharmacy team

As a training practice we have GP registrars, F2 doctors, medical students and nursing students on a regular basis.

Job Description

Undertake tasks that may include:

Immunisations, including childhood immunisations and travel vaccinations

Following agreed local and national clinical protocols with referral to lead nurse or GPs as appropriate

Chronic disease management including diabetes, asthma and COPD

Cytology and Sexual Health

Ongoing training and support of the Healthcare Assistants

Other tasks including:

Ordering of Health Promotion Literature

Ordering of stock

Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels

Participation in administrative systems in the practice

Maintain accurate records

A duty to advise lead nurse of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks

Special Requirements of the Post:

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness and common sense.

A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post.

A commitment to the effective use of practice and NHS resources.

An awareness of own limitations and experience.

To work only in accordance with the NMC and within the Scope of Professional Practice
