Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Nurse or Nurse Associate, to join our well established nursing team. We are a friendly, forward thinking team who would welcome an individual with the same outlook. We are ideally looking for 37 hours per week, delivered over 5 days and across 2 sites. We would consider 30 hours across 4 days as a minimum.
This contract is offered on a fixed term, 12 month basis to cover maternity leave. Ideally commencing February 2026. Following this period, there may be an opportunity of a permanent role.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role will be within the scope of your qualification, skills and experience. This is dependant on whether the successful candidate is a Nurse Associate or a Nurse Practitioner.
The ideal candidate will have experience in all areas of general practice nursing. You will be responsible for managing and providing care for our presenting patients.

Severn Valley Medical Practice is a dual sited practice, with practices at Henwick Halt and Lyppard Grange. Both are purpose built as medical practices and have ample staff and patient parking.
Our raw list size is currently 21,981 patients. We boast 17 GP's, 5 ANP's and a substantial nursing team that includes HCA and phlebotomy services. Both sites benefit from a strong non-clinical workforce to support patient access, communications and services.
The practice uses EMIS Web clinical system. We have an embedded legacy of medical education and proactively support employee development and advancement wherever possible.

To provide a wide range of nursing services and treatment to patients registered within the practice. To be able to work autonomously using sound clinical judgement.
Typical tasks may include (but are not restricted to):
- Wound assessment; provide care using appropriate dressing treatments to promote healing.
- To be involved in chronic disease management to include diabetes, asthma and COPD.
- Cytology
- Removal of sutures
- Investigation to include swabs, urinalysis, venepuncture, capillary blood testing, BP measurement
- Care within the local enhanced and direct enhanced service contracts to include ECGs, health checks, alcohol monitoring and post operative care
- Ear care and advice
- Childhood immunisations, flu and additional immunisation programmes
- Adult & child immunisations
- Infection control
- Emergency management - competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques
- Adult and child protection - recognise signs and symptoms, understand the importance of communication, aware of safeguarding procedures
- Recognise and facilitate health promotion opportunities
