Job summary

Ely PCN are looking for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our growing Pharmacy team. The post-holder will offer support to one or two Practices within Ely PCNs.

Our Pharmacy Technicians are valued and supported members of the PCN team, and work closely with clinicians and Pharmacists from our six GP Practices, helping us continue safe and effective prescribing practice and the obvious benefits that brings to our patients.

Supervision, oversight and support will be offered from a Clinical Pharmacist, and training will be encouraged.

We currently have a team of four pharmacy technicians across the PCN and they have come to be highly appreciated by the all six Network Practices, having delivered clear benefits to GPs, Practice teams, and patients.

Main duties of the job

You will have an enthusiasm for patient safety, service development, personal development, and are likely to have experience in either a community pharmacy or primary care setting.

Good communication and IT skills will be vital,and you will be qualified and registeredas a Pharmacy Technicianwith the GPhC.

Key tasks include:

  • Direct work with patients, including supporting safe medication use, repeat prescription reconciliations, and leading Level 1 medication reviews.
  • Liaison with Practice colleagues and partner organisations, including care homes, CCG Medicines Optimisation Teams and local Pharmacies.
  • Supporting safe systems of working, including leading audits, communicating safety alerts and formulary changes.
  • Supporting delivery of contract requirements, including DES contract and QOF targets.

About us

Primary Care Networks formed in 2019 to support the join-up of Primary Care GP services in local clusters across England.

Ely North PCN and Ely South PCN cover the majority of the East Cambridgeshire region. We work closely with one another and have a joint Board and joint management team. Together we are known as Ely Primary Care Networks.

  • - Evidence of further training and qualifications.

Experience

  • - Using IT systems to record, analyse and communicate information accurately.

Desirable

  • - More than three years experience working within Primary Care.
  • - Using the SystmOne clinical system.

  • - Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
  • - Satisfactory employment references.
  • - Ability to travel easily in the community when required.
